Pansexuality describes attraction to people regardless of sex or gender. Many people who identify as pansexual experience attraction that is not limited by traditional gender categories, and the identity is often embraced as an explicitly inclusive recognition of both binary and nonbinary identities.

While some people use both “bisexual” and “pansexual,” others prefer pansexual because they feel it more clearly expresses attraction beyond gender itself. Like many LGBTQ+ identities, the meaning can be deeply personal and may vary from person to person.

The Pansexual Pride flag was designed by Jasper and first shared online in 2010. Its bold pink, yellow, and blue stripes quickly became one of the most recognizable modern Pride flag designs.

According to the original creator:

• Pink represents attraction connected to the female spectrum
• Blue represents attraction connected to the male spectrum
• Yellow represents attraction beyond the gender binary and acknowledges nonbinary identities

The bright yellow center stripe was intentionally chosen to distinguish the flag visually while symbolizing inclusivity, life, and visibility.
